Once upon a time...
Jessalynne a little girl in the tiny medieval village of Cevil grew up poor and unhappy. Her father always went out of his way to hurt the little girls feelings so that her big blue eyes would fill with tears and she would hide her face with her long dark hair. Pamela, her mother always did what she could to make her daughter feel loved, but it just wasn't enough. Jessalynne spent most of her time reading books and dreaming of far off places and handsome princes.
"A prince would only run from you in fear because you are so fat!" her father had said, the poor girl was only four. Jessalynne ran outside crying, the tears running like a salty waterfall down her young face. Her only friend was her black and white cat Thomas.
"Oh Thomas what am I to do?" she wailed to the cat, who only meowed and rubbed against her leg. Jessalynne wiped her tears and prayed to God asking him to end her life...
--------------------------------------------------------
Many years had passed and Jessalynne was soon to be thirteen, she spent her days learning with the many children who came to the market place to appretentice a person of trade. Jessalynne wanted to learn how to make beautiful dresses worn by the people of court.
"would you hold this for me please." someone asked from just behind where Jessalynne was standing watching the sprays of the fountain. She turned to answer and blushed madly, because he was the cutest boy she had ever seen.
"yes." she answered holding out her hand, the boy placed a large white sparkling stone into her hand. The moment it touched her hand Jessalynn knew something wasn't right.
"It's glowing." she whispered in shock looking up at the boy. the boy put a finger to his mouth and winked one crystal blue eye.
"It's magic." the boy said. Jessalynne's eyes widened before she focused back on the stone.
"What does it do?" she asked. The boy smiled and ran a hand through his shoulder length blonde hair.
"It grants wishes." she said. Jessalynne looked at him as if he'd grown another head.
"Ha ha very funny make fun of the ugly fat girl." she said angrily. The boy looked confused and looked around.
"who said you were fat or ugly?" he asked utterly confused. Jessica wiped the tears from her eyes with her right hand.
"My father, some of the other children." She answered as she sat on the edge of the fountain, her head down in sadness.
"You father is just mean, I don't think you're fat or ugly." he said, sitting next to her. She looked at him and smiled a brilliantly beautiful smile at him.
"I wasn't lying by the way, about the granting wishes...try it and see." he added. Jessalynne closed her eyes and looked deeply inside her heart.
"I wish that I was beautiful." she thought to herself, when she opened her eyes however nothing had changed.
"It didn't work." She said sadly. "I wished that I was beautiful, and it didn't work." she said on the verge of crying.
"That's because you are beautiful, and anyone who doesn't think so is blind." The boy said.
Jessalynne smiled and tried another wish.
"I wish I wasn't poor and that me and my little brother had the best of everything." She said. She gasped when she noticed her tattered cotton dress had become a beautiful shimmering pale blue silk with a silver belt and wide bell sleeves. even her shoes had changed from nothing more than scrap material to elegant blue silk slippers.
When she turned to thank the boy he was gone. Jessalynne shrugged and returned to looking at the fountain where something new caught her eye, it was a boy with shoulder length hair with a tiny girl resembling Jessalynne sitting in the palm of his hand which was reaching up toward the sky, but what caught Jessalynnes attention most was the pair of brilliant white wings on his back, and the piece missing from the the longest feather of the right wing.
